“Lots of ripe-blackberry, mineral and dark-chocolate character. Hints of rosemary and dark licorice as well. Full body with a dense, chewy mouthfeel and a long finish. It’s very structured and powerful. Hints of walnut and chocolate on the aftertaste. Second wine of Ornellaia and what a wine. Try after 2019.” – 93 Points, James Suckling

The 2012 Bolgheri Le Serre Nuove is a voluptuous and generous wine that bursts forth with wild-cherry aromas, blackberry, crème de cassis, oak spice and smoke. The blend of grapes this year is 52% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 12% Petit Verdot. It awards pleasure and smoothness, thanks to its plump tannins and ripe fruit overtones. Le Serre Nuove shows the acidity and structure for ten years or more of cellar aging.” – 92 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Ornellaia was founded in 1981 undergoing several changes of ownership until it was taken over by the Frescobaldi family in 2005. Located near Bolgheri with around 192 hectares in total encompassing the vineyards, winery and the adjacent Bellaria property just North of Bolgheri.

One of the driving forces of the Super Tuscan movement, the estates “Ornellaia”, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc is a seductive and evocative wine that has won much praise from wine critics and drinkers alike with its impressive colour, concentration and intensity of aroma and flavour. Other wines from the estate provide great quality also including Le Serre Nuove and Le Volte blends.

Made with the same passion and attention to detail as Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is a true “second vin”. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, it combines approachability and a depth of flavour with proven ageing potential. 94 pts, James Suckling.
