Description

Critics:

“Ruby Red with purple tints, aromas of wild berries, cherries, clove, cedar wood and violets. Full round and balanced with inky notes on the finish. Minerals and sweet brown spices, ground black peppers, graphite, myrtle, and balsamic, with higher-pitched suggestions of sour red cherry and violet. The juicy, mouth-watering texture leaves you wanting another glass.” – Importer

Producer:

This Sicilian farm of recent acquisition consists of 22 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 40 metres above sea level. It is situated in the Ragusa area, near Ispica, close to the road that leads from the village to the seaside resort of Marina di Pozzallo. Powerful, concentrated wines.

The Poggio Graffetta area occupies the limestone foundations that mark the lower Monti Iblei. This is rocky, calcerous terrain, made up of the stratification of an ancient coral reef. The climate is hot, dry and windy, and temperatures are alleviated by the closeness of the sea. The vines express themselves with long constant ripening. The plant buds early, encouraged by sunny springs and early summers. It slows down in summer and in September the late-ripening vines reach their maturity. Thanks to these characteristics, the wines feature optimum alcohol, colour and aromas.
