Description
Producer:
In 1960 Castelvecchio was bought and renovated by Renzo Rocchi, giving it an elegant appearance of a dignified residence. The cellars were built and the vineyards planted, all beginning with a passion and love of the countryside. The property evokes memories from the mid- twelfth century, in pure Romanesque style. The stone emblem placed on the facade accompanies the company logo which has been around for many years.
This wine is made from a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese & Petit Verdot. The producer aspires to find the perfect harmony among the 3 grapes, respecting the nuances of every vintage. The grapes are hand picked and the balance is a result of a very accurate vinification process. The wine is aged for 12-15 months in new French barriques (oak) and further refined in the bottle.
The name of the wine describes the gravel – in particular the small pebbles – that cover the country roads. The name ‘Il Breccioino’ underlines the strong link with the terroir as the first wine made under Filippo Rocchi’s direction.
