Description

“Structured and delicious, this opens with aromas suggesting underbrush, leather rose petal and a balsamic note. The juicy palate doles out raspberry compote, ripe red cherry, cinnamon and a sprinkling of white pepper. Firm velvety tannins provide the framework while a licorice note closes the lingering finish.” – 94 Pts Kerin O’Keefe. Drink 2019–2025.

Brezza’s 2012 Barolo Cannubi opens with beguiling, captivating aromatics. Mediterranean herbs, licorice, anise, smoke, game and red stone fruits abound. Mysterious and constantly changing in the glass, the 2012 appears to hold significant potential. A closing blast of tannin gives energy to the red fleshed fruit, rose petal, mint and sweet spice notes. The pedigree and elegance of Cannubi come through in a Barolo that melds together power and finesse, although readers will have to wait a few years to catch the 2012 at its very best.” – 91+ Points. Antonio Galloni. Drink 2022-2042. Tasted March 2016.

Proprietors of tradition for 4 generations, the family believe today that the best way to represent the uniqueness of their terroir is to stay in constant harmony with the land and its fruits. Currently the family is working organically farmed vineyards. Their philosophy is to produce mono varietal wines and to take more care to better the health of the vineyard.

The Brezza private estate lies next to the small town of Barolo, immersed in the vineyards, as is the nearby Hotel Barolo and Restaurant Brezza, also property of the Brezza family. The estate extends over 31 hectars, of which 20 are vineyards, some dating back to 1885. The wines are all certified as DOCG “Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita” (controlled and guaranteed appellation of origin) or DOC “Denominazione Origine Controllata” (controlled appellation of origin).
